Intranet & Custom SPFx Development
Design and build your SharePoint intranet, dashboards and custom web parts, choosing the best tool for each job.
Who this is for
- Organizations building or rebuilding a SharePoint intranet
- Teams that want org charts, project tracking, forms or dashboards on native SharePoint lists
- Groups that need a custom SPFx web part or a Microsoft Graph integration
- Admins who want the build documented and handed over, not left as a black box
What you get
- An information architecture and navigation plan: hubs, sites and pages
- Page and hub design that fits your organization
- People directory, org chart, project tracking and dashboards using the free tools where they fit
- Custom SPFx web parts and Microsoft Graph integrations where they do not
- Power Automate workflows for the processes that need them
- Documentation and training for the people who will run it
How it works
- 1
Discover
Understand the audiences, the content and the processes the intranet has to support, and what you already have.
- 2
Design
Plan the structure, navigation and pages, and decide where the free tools cover the need and where custom work is justified.
- 3
Build
Build in stages, using native SharePoint lists and the open-source web parts first, and custom SPFx only where needed.
- 4
Review
Walk through each stage with your team and adjust before moving on.
- 5
Hand over
Deliver documentation and training so your team can run and extend it.
What a typical engagement looks like
- Scope
- An intranet build or rebuild, or a defined set of web parts, dashboards or integrations on an existing tenant.
- Shape of the work
- Discovery and design, staged builds with reviews, and a handover, with custom development scoped separately from configuration.
- What you keep
- The built solution, source for any custom code as agreed, and documentation and training for your admins.
What drives the cost
These are the factors that move the estimate for this kind of work.
- The number of sites, hubs and pages
- How much custom SPFx development is needed beyond the free web parts
- Integrations, including Microsoft Graph and third-party systems
- Data sources for dashboards and charts
- Governance, approvals and training requirements

Common questions
Do we need custom code?
Often not. The free web parts cover org charts and directories, project tracking, charts and forms on native SharePoint lists. Custom SPFx is used where they do not fit.
Does the work stay inside our tenant?
The free SPFx web parts run inside your Microsoft 365 tenant, and tools such as Smart Gantt Chart and Smart Forms keep their data in native SharePoint lists. Custom builds are scoped with your security requirements.
Who owns custom code?
Ownership and licensing of any custom code are agreed in the scope before work starts.
Can we do this ourselves with the free tools?
Many teams can for individual web parts. This service is for teams that want an intranet designed and built, or custom development beyond what the tools cover.
How is the work priced?
We start with a scoped discovery and then quote the work. The factors above are what move the estimate.
